1. Pull the Pin at the top of the extinguisher. The latch releases the locking mechanism and allows you to release the extinguisher.
2. Aim at the root of the flame, not the flame. This is very important - to put out the fire, you have to put out the fuel.
3. Squeeze the lever slowly. This will release the extinguishant in the extinguisher. If the handle is released, release will stop.
4. Scan from side to side. Using a sweeping motion, move the extinguisher back and forth until the flame is completely extinguished. Operate the extinguisher from a safe distance, a few feet away, then move towards the fire as it begins to go out.
